Iopio: Doing more with less
Inspired by my experiences in the construction industry and eco interests, Iopio is modular typographic concept based on a simple layout (or grid) of straight and quarter circle sections. By selecting key sections of the grid any alphanumeric character can be produced.
Originally designed as just vehicles for the Iopio typeface; through further development and end-user potential Iopio Light and Stencil have become complete design systems in their own right.
Envisioned with simplicity and economy of materials in mind, these prototypes have evolved into symbolic and practical exercises in de-materialisation. In an uncertain future with dwindling resources, by anticipating our needs for continual sophistication and communication, that can’t be a bad thing.
